Again we start with a meeting to discuss your ideas and aspirations for your garden. We look at how the garden relates to the your home, how the main exits connect and the views from key rooms. From this meeting we agree a brief and budget.
Site Analysis & Survey
The site analysis looks carefully at where your garden is in terms of geography, history and context. This analysis, complete with a photographic survey, helps us to get to know your garden and ensure the design is relevant. For smaller projects we will also complete a summary survey. A full topographical survey is required for large sites and gardens with level changes. This will be sub-contracted to a trusted specialist.
The concept sketches bring together your brief, our ideas and the details collected from the site analysis. An A3 document illustrates how the areas of the garden link together, their scale, the areas of planting and key architectural ideas. This presentation will include a site plan with alternative options, perspectives of key views plus materials and planting mood boards. It is a working document and allows us to develop the ideas together, to find a master plan you are happy with.
Once the sketch masterplan is agreed we produce a set of documents for the setting out, hard-landscaping, construction detail, planting plans and of course, lighting. This enables you to go to tender with the design, details and quality you require, set out in a comprehensive document.
The quality of the finished build depends very much on the skills of your chosen contractor and we can help find the right one for you. nb lighting & landscapes are currently looking to work with contractors who include project management within their services, allowing us to offer an advisory role during construction.
Planting and Commissioning
With the hard-landscaping complete, the plants arrive and we like to be involved. Setting out the plants, helping the contractor with the planting and settling everything in. Finessing the lighting and ensuring we hand over a garden we can all be proud of.
We can leave you with a maintenance manual for your plants and can introduce you to a maintenance team, if you would like us to. Finally we would like to keep in touch as the seasons progress, fine tuning your garden, as it matures.
