Nicky Burridge MSc BA(Hons)

I love the process of design.  The bringing together of ideas, the jigsaw that clicks into place.  The simplicity and elegance of a well-considered design.  The tussle to get there.

My fascination for lighting began in 1990 while studying a BA(Hons) in 3D Design.  The MSc in Light & Lighting at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL developed my appreciation of space and light, both natural and artificial.

I went on to work on a wide range of prestigious heritage and exciting commercial projects, progressing to senior lighting designer at BDP in 1999.  I was responsible for the design, integration and specification of the lighting from concept through to completion.  Freelance work followed and it was when I designed my first residential project, that I decided quality homes were the way forward.  In 2003 I joined John Cullen Lighting as a senior designer and in 2006 set up nb Lighting Design.  I enjoy the one to one working relationship with my clients and being part of the team that creates a home.

My lighting helps create beautiful and comfortable homes, with innovative design tailored to meet each client’s lifestyle and technical aspirations.  I use light and lighting control to enhance the architecture.  Bringing to life the interior and exterior detailing.

Since graduating I have also been quietly digging.  Each of my new homes has inspired me to create a garden.  When there was no garden, I found an allotment.  I then helped friends with their garden designs and in 2016 I had the opportunity to go back to college and study for a Diploma in Garden Design at the prestigious London College of Garden Design.  I graduated in 2017 with a distinction.

nb lighting & landscapes is my next adventure.  I am looking to take the link between your home and garden to another level.
